Johnstown's yearly celebration is always the first weekend in June. It starts on Saturday morning about 4:00 A.M. with firetrucks coming down your street blaring their sirens and fire fighters shouting, "Come on down for the pancake breakfast!" The first year we lived here all of us neighbors were on our front lawns in pajamas wondering what the heck was going on. Now we know to get up out of bed and head to the firestation at 5:00 A.M. for some good grub. Paul got up this year and waited in line for the breakfast to bring home to his sleeping wife and children.
Janna, our next door neighbor and fellow mom of a toddler and twins, and I decided to take our 6 children to the parade while Scott and Paul worked. We were nervous, but the kids did great! Her baby boy twins didn't like all the sirens at the end, but the older four loved getting candy and watching the entertainment go by.It was a huge success and each child left with a huge bag of candy.
That night we headed into town for a pig roast and some other games and activitites in the park. It was another great Johnstown Days weekend!
